As the recent TowerGroup report, “2010 Top 10 Business Drivers, Strategic Responses, and IT Initiatives in Investment Management” states, automation will be a major focus for investment management firms this year and, most likely, well into the future. One of the most effective ways to streamline processes is through process management.

Dayle Scher: research director, TowerGroup Dayle Scher is a research director in the Securities & Investments practice at TowerGroup, where she analyzes business processes and technologies impacting the post-trade functions of the institutional securities industry. Her research covers trade processing and accounting, messaging standards, sourcing strategies, data management, and the service providers that support institutional securities firm operations.   Before joining TowerGroup, Ms. Scher spent over 20 years in the industry, most recently at MFS Investment Management in Boston. Her experience involved applying technology and process reengineering to operations areas with the goal of delivering a global STP strategy.

Paul zur Nieden: vice president, SunGard Paul zur Nieden, vice president, product management and strategy, for SunGard’s Asset Arena has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services software industry, including operations, technology, product management and client services at major banks and software companies. An accomplished product manager, Mr. zur Nieden has led numerous efforts related to product management and client services for the last nine years within the Asset Arena product family. Over the last two years he has been a key contributor to our efforts related to Process Management within Asset Arena.
