Philanthropy
SunGard's corporate philanthropic projects typically involve the provision of technology resources on a pro bono basis to aid charitable organizations. We favor opportunities where there is a good fit between an organization's technology requirements and our ability to make an impact. For example, we participate in the Grameen Foundation’s open source information management platform for microfinance, Mifos, which is used by eight microfinance institutions across India, Tunisia, Kenya, Philippines, and Senegal serving more than 550,000 clients. We have also created a Responsible Computing Project, a project designed to harness the spare processing capabilities of idle SunGard workstations held in reserve for disaster recovery and utilize them for scientific and humanitarian research projects.
SunGard supports the work of the Red Cross and its affiliated organizations, specifically in disaster relief efforts such as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the Haiti earthquake.
SunGard is also proud of its many employees who are active in their communities. The company encourages volunteerism and SunGard employees are actively involved in their communities through volunteer activities, organized and managed at a local level.
