Abdulla Al Awar was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai International Financial Centre Authority (DIFC) in June 2009. 

In this role, he heads the organization charged with developing overall strategy and operational management of DIFC.  Before assuming the role of CEO, he served as the Managing Director of the DIFC Authority, where he was responsible for attracting financial institutions to operate in the DIFC as well as the creation of an ideal platform for non-financial & professional service providers that support the constant development of the financial sector. 

Abdulla is also a member of the HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Program for leadership Development since 2005.  He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA.

Currently, Group Head of Risk Architecture & Operational Risk. Majdi Chaabouni is in charge of developing the operational risk management capabilities as well as defining, developing and maintaining the “Enterprise-Wide-Risk Management” throughout the NCB Group. 

Previously a Paris based consultant and Head of Risk Practice at Headstrong (a US Strategy Consulting Firm). Majdi Chaabouni advised around 20 Banks across Europe and designed the “Enterprise-Wide-Risk Management” solutions for Top Tier 1 Banks in the Euro-Zone. Majdi Chaabouni used to work for Moody’s Analytics in Paris.

Prior to this, Majdi Chaabouni was based in Spain (Madrid) where he acted as M&A Investment services consultant for Top Tier 1 Spanish Banks.  Author of more than 30 publications in Finance & Risk Management in most finance periodicals and international specialized magazines.

He is a speaker in international events.Majdi Chaabouni is a visiting professor of Asset & Liability Management and academic tutor in risk modeling. He is one of the Regional Directors for PRMIA Risk Association.  

Majdi Chaabouni holds an Msc in Finance from King William College-London (University of Greenwich) and BSc in Bank Management and is pursing his MBA from Warwick Business School-UK. Majdi Chaabouni completed the Private Equity Program at Oxford University.

Mr. Haissam Arabi is a Lebanese national and the Founder of Gulfmena. He has lived most of his life in the Arabian Gulf.

He has more than 16 years experience in the financial arena, of which the last 14 years were spent specializing in equity investments in the MENA markets. He guided the structuring of several regional mutual funds and specialized portfolios and he also incubated new trading strategies, some of which will form an integral component of Gulfmena’s alternative investment approach.

For the past 8 ½ years Mr. Arabi worked with SHUAA Capital, a leading regional investment bank based in Dubai as Managing Director, having founded its Asset Management Division. In his capacity as SHUAA’s lead fund manager, he also managed the firm’s long-only equity funds, both conventional as well as Shari’ah compliant, until June 2008.

Mr. Arabi led a team of 38 professionals. Assets under Management during his tenure grew from USD 18.0 million in 2001 to over USD 1.85 billion by June 2008. Prior to joining SunGard in 2007, he spent 11 years at Oracle working in various capacities and geographies. His most recent job at Oracle was Director of Product Strategy Financial Services in the Applications Division where he worked on defining a strategy around cash management and payments.

Colin Day is a member of the product strategy organization for the SunGard’s banking business where he focuses on compliance and financial crime solutions. In his role, Mr. Day is responsible for expanding SunGard’s go-to-market strategy for the Ambit Anti-Money Laundering solution working closely with SunGard’s product teams, and customers to drive the evolution of the portfolio.

Previously, Mr. Day was vice president of market insights for SunGard’s banks and corporations business. In this role Mr. Day was responsible for engendering advocacy of SunGard’s solutions in the markets in which it operates.

Prior to this role Mr. Day held the position of vice president of business development and marketing at SunGard’s STeP – where he was responsible for managing partner relationships and developing new distribution channels for STeP solutions – following serving as director of product and strategy. Mr. Day joined SunGard in 1999 and has eighteen years of experience in the international banking industry.

Prior to joining SunGard, Mr. Day ran the global systems development team within the trading and capital markets back-office at Scandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), and previously worked for Coutts where he held positions in International Funds Transfer Treasury back office and IT systems.

A former banker, Colin Day is well versed in the operational risk planning and procedures of the banking and securities markets. He was instrumental in developing SunGard’s recent launch of Ambit Anti-Money Laundering, a solution which provides a detection and compliance platform for financial institutions with a focus on anti-money laundering. Watch-list checking, comprehensive monitoring of transactions and accounts to generate scored alerts and case management to facilitate the detection, proactive investigation, and reporting of money laundering activities.

Prior to joining SunGard in 1999, Dr. Rowe spent more than 25 years in the banking and economic forecasting industries, most recently as senior vice president of the Risk Management Information group at Bank of America in San Francisco.

Jamal M. Saleh is an Arab-American banker who has been in the banking industry for 17 years, the first 10 of which were in New York, USA, in Private Banking and Asset Management.

In addition, his experience covers Credit, Corporate Banking, Project Finance and, presently, Risk Management and Basel II.  He graduated valedictorian (summa cum laude) from the United States, and is the holder of 5 professional certifications. 

He is presently heading Risk Management at Commercial Bank of Dubai (UAE) and is responsible for the implementation of Basel 2 and has been given ownership for the formulation of full-fledged risk management plans for Credit, Market and Operational Risk Management, for which he has received the "Certificate of Excellence" Award.

Matthew Serynek is currently the Senior Vice President of European Operations for SunGard’s Kiodex.

Ms. Weiss has had more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and most recently was the founding partner of Gail Weiss & Associates, a leading provider of financial services software applications and consulting specializing in mutual funds.

Ms. Weiss also was a founder and served as president of International Clearing Trust Company. In addition, Ms. Weiss has held senior management positions at Charles Schwab & Co. and TD Ameritrade. 

Ms. Weiss is an active participant in many industry organizations including the Investment Company Institute, National Investment Company Service Association and the Trust Compliance Managers Roundtable. In addition, she is a frequent speaker at conferences and contributing author to industry publications. 

Gail Weiss has a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and has completed post-graduate studies at Oxford University and New York University, and is currently working on a master’s degree in financial regulation and compliance management at London Metropolitan University. She has also passed the Series 7, 24 and 66 examinations in the U.S. and the FSA Unit 6 examination in the UK.

Gail Weiss has been named managing director of SunGard’s wealth management businesses for Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Based in London, Gail will build out the company’s international initiatives, tapping her extensive experience working with financial services companies.

Ms. Weiss is responsible for business development activities for the SunGard Transaction Network (STN)’s global trade automation and connectivity services for securities, money markets and mutual funds.

Graham is currently Vice Chairman of ODL Securities Limited, one of the largest foreign exchange, precious metals, energy and exchange trading equity options companies in the world.

ODL Securities has offices based in the UK, Japan and Joint Ventures in Australia and Turkey.
Graham orchestrated a takeover of ODL Securities Limited in 2004 and has successfully built the company from a UK only based company with 34 staff to an international brokerage and market making with in excess of 200 employees.

Graham began his career in financial services at Hoare Govett Security Pacific in 1984 where he ran their Equity Options Desk.  He later moved on to manage derivative desks at ING Bank and Banque Indosuez.

He founded IFX Group with Lorenzo Naldini in 1995 and successfully brought this company to be listed on The London Stock Exchange and he and his partner sold their interest in 2003.

He acted as a consultant to various financial and government institutions, including the Monetary Analysis Area at the Bank of England and the Research Directorate-General at the ECB. 

Dr. Wormald is currently chair of the City Associates Board at the Centre for Computational Finance and Economics Agents at the University of Essex. 

He holds a master's degree in physics from Cambridge and a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Mohammed Ali Yasin is a University of London graduate with a B.Sc in Computer Science.
