Paul O’Donnell is chief operating officer of BATS Europe, a fast-growing pan-European multilateral trading facility (MTF) owned by BATS Global Markets.

Mr. O’Donnell was previously an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, where he spent 14 years in a variety of positions in information technology and institutional equities in both Japan and the U.S. At Morgan Stanley, Mr. O’Donnell was most recently responsible for architecture, planning, deployment and operations of algorithmic trading and smart order routing across a variety of asset classes.
He was previously in charge of the automation of the firm's cash equity market making desk. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he was a software engineer at Softway Pty Ltd in Australia.

Derek was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He attended Duke University and graduated in 1979 with an undergraduate degree, double majoring in chemistry and English.
After college he had a very short career as a professional football player in the NFL and the Canadian Football League. After realizing that football was not a viable long-term situation, he became a chemist with a contractor of the National Cancer Institute.
After realizing that being in a chemistry lab was not his life long pursuit, he worked on Capitol Hill as a lobbyist. After a short stint on the Hill, Derek returned to his alma mater to pursue an MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
He was introduced to Wall Street in between his first and second year of business school when he worked in a retail office at Merrill Lynch in Washington, D.C. After graduation in 1984 he joined Morgan Stanley. At Morgan Stanley he worked as a listed block trader, trading primarily technology issues for 6 years. He was the first MBA ever placed on the prestigious block desk at Morgan Stanley.
After 6 years he moved to Morgan’s NASDAQ desk and traded technology issues there for two years. In 1992 he moved to Merrill Lynch to run their UK/European equity trading operation in New York. After two years at Merrill he moved to Lehman Brothers to become the head trader for their entire international equity trading desk in New York.
After four years at Lehman, in 1998 Derek moved to Fidelity Capital Markets, the capital markets arm of the largest mutual fund in the world, Fidelity Investments. For 6 years Derek ran equity trading and also ran fixed income for 2 of those years. In June of 2006 Derek joined Pershing LLC as their head of equities.
Pershing is one of the largest clearing and intermediary firms in the world.

Trevor Spanner is the Chief Operating Officer of EuroCCP, a subsidiary of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC). Headquartered in London, EuroCCP was formed to provide clearing and settlement services for a wide range of multilateral trading facilities across Europe.
It initially began clearing pan-European equity trades for the Turquoise MTF in August 2008 and has since been chosen to clear for NYSE Arca Europe, SmartPool, Pipeline and SecFinex. Most recently EuroCCP has announced an innovative partnership with Omgeo to develop CCP functionality in the Prime Broker/Hedge Fund space. At EuroCCP Trevor oversees day to day service delivery and risk management. In addition he is closely involved in expanding the business and product development. Before joining EuroCCP in 2007, Trevor was Head of European Operations at Merrill Lynch, and previous to that was a Managing Director at UBS. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in market and infrastructure projects at a firm and industry level. A graduate from Kent University in England he is also a Chartered Accountant and an Associate member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.

Catherine Stagg-Macey is a senior analyst in Celent’s insurance practice and is based in the firm’s London office. Ms. Stagg-Macey's research focuses on IT strategy issues for the UK and European general insurance industry.
Her recent research work has focused on the core insurance vendor landscape, business process outsourcing, IT spending, and bancassurance. Her consulting experience at Celent includes package selection for insurers and marketing reviews for vendors.
Prior to joining Celent, Ms. Stagg-Macey was a senior consultant at ATOS KPMG Consulting in London and South Africa. In this role, she worked on the development of IT strategy and advised clients on outsourcing, data warehousing, and the selection of software packages.
Previously Ms. Stagg-Macey was an internal strategy consultant for Marsh in London. She was responsible for delivering IT strategy and managing relationships with the European Management Board. She has also held project delivery roles at Marsh and Investec Bank Limited in South Africa.
Ms. Stagg-Macey earned her BSC in Computer Science and Management from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.

Leslie leads development of Newedge’s electronic trading product line and coordinates the firm’s electronic trading functions, working in conjunction with IT and sales.
Prior to joining Newedge, Leslie founded Financial Markets Consulting in 1997, serving as its president. Before that, Leslie directed marketing of clearing and risk analysis systems for the Institutional Financial Futures Department of Prudential Securities. She also founded Prudential’s global institutional futures and options service desk in London. Additionally, Leslie worked as an independent options trader and as a research analyst for McKinsey & Co., the management consultancy.
Leslie holds a Masters of Management in Finance and Marketing from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and an AB magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts.

An HEC Business School alumni, Tessier started his career in 1989 at FINACOR VENDOME, the leading French futures broker, where he became an early adopter of modern automated clearing technology.
He relocated to England in 1998 to take on regional responsibility for CSFB ETD Operations, implementing the first EUREX remote Clearing Membership. He joined GL TRADE Ltd in 2003, as CEO for London-Northern Europe at the point when GL TRADE focussed its external growth strategy and development on cross-asset Front-to Back workflow solutions.
Pursuant to their acquisition of ABN AMRO Futures, Tessier joined UBS Ltd in 2007 as Regional Head of EMEA ETD Operations, to drive the regional line integration.
