My Role
As a professional services manager, my role involves looking after the implementation consultants to ensure that our software implementation projects run on track and to budget.

Why did you decide to join SunGard in Oxford?
I started working in London in 2002 for a consultancy company; however, I wasn’t a fan of living in London, and all of my hobbies were based out of London.  SunGard gave me the opportunity to work as a financial services consultant outside of London and still have the opportunity to travel internationally.

What exciting projects have you been involved in?
In 2005, I spent a month in Australia working with two customers to troubleshoot various aspects of their implementation.  Both projects required co-ordination with the UK and the US, and therefore this required working some strange hours – but gave me the opportunity to build bonds with my Australian SunGard colleagues, who gave me some guided tours of Sydney and surrounding areas.

Why SunGard?
Working for a financial services technology company gives you a variety of work and a broad insight that you rarely find in a City job; we get to see what happens in many different financial institutions.  People are empowered early here and it’s not unusual to find yourself out at a customer site within months of joining.  Promotions and pay rises are based purely on merit, and the top performers are well rewarded.
