Securities Lending & Borrowing Market Update
SBL Market update: Loan spreads and loan balances showed mixed results during the week ending October 30th
Securities lending spreads across 7 out of 12 analyzed indices dropped for the week ending October 30th, while 7 of the 12 saw spreads increase over the last 30 days. Healthcare and Energy sectors had the largest increase in spread, 25.2% and 25.3% respectively. The Healthcare sector has increased 157.7% over the last 30 days while the Energy sector has seen a decrease in spread of 42.6% over the same period. The DJ Stoxx 600 led the decliners at 44% for the month of October.
Loan balances also dropped in 7 of the 12 indices, but are up in 9 of the indices over the past 30 days. The Financial sector had the largest increase in volume at 3.8%, while the Healthcare sector decreased the most, -8.9%, during the final week of October.
