Policy, Tasking and Workflow

The Tasking and Workflow module sits across the other modules and enables officers to be tasked with specific activities in line with the Force’s strategic Tasking and Co-ordination Group meetings (T&CG), as required by the National Intelligence Model (NIM), or with more tactical activities such as individual criminal investigations. The officer may be tasked with activities that are linked to the Force Briefing. Therefore, as the two are presented on the same page the officer will have a clear understanding of the background to such tasks and will therefore be better informed and be more effective in performing their duties.

Processes within UNIFI can be defined using Force policies, which are instigated as part of a criminal investigation or enquiry. These policies or workflows are defined and maintained centrally by the Force and encapsulate the activities that need to take place under certain circumstances. Policies are created by experts and can help to enforce best practice throughout the Force, whilst ensuring that activities are performed effectively. Officer workloads can be managed easily by supervisors to ensure that the Force’s limited resources are being utilised in the most effective way. Tasking in this way also encourages officers to feedback information when completing activities, thus helping to improve the quality and value of the intelligence data held within the system.
