David Chapman is a managing partner with SunGard Global Services, responsible for the Northeast region of North America.
Mr. Chapman has worked in and around Wall Street for almost 20 years and has an extensive background in the development of financial systems for capital markets. His domain knowledge covers fixed income, derivatives, commodities, equities, electronic trading, and credit and market risk.
Prior to joining SunGard, David spent 12 years working for Finetix, a financial services IT consulting firm that SunGard acquired in 2007. Mr. Chapman started his career as a financial services developer specializing in Agile software development and object technology.
Commentary
Wall Street firms invest significant resources in IT development and implementation and require on-time and on-budget software delivery. The prevailing development methodology is one key obstacle to achieving rapid delivery because it leaves coding, integration and testing for last. Our experience supports the use of an improved approach called “Agile” which represents an iterative, collaborative and disciplined way to deliver prioritized business functionality early by making sure that the most important features of a system go into production first.
