Pamela Marnell is chief marketing officer for SunGard Financial Systems, responsible for product management across all financial systems businesses. In this role, she provides strategic guidance to business presidents and product management teams, facilitating product evolution, innovation strategies, go-to-market plans, alliances and business development. Prior to this position, Ms. Marnell led marketing and product management efforts across several SunGard Financial Systems businesses. As a member of the Financial Systems leadership team, Ms. Marnell has been involved with top-priority strategic business development, acquisition, market expansion and organizational efficiency initiatives over the past 10 years.
Ms. Marnell joined SunGard in April 1997, via the company’s acquisition of Premier Solutions, Ltd.Ms. Marnell began her nearly 20-year career in financial technology and management consulting in global marketing roles with KPMG Peat Marwick.
Commentary
The major drivers reshaping the financial markets today can be categorized under three key themes: transparency, efficiency and networks. As market conditions continue to highlight a need for stronger risk management, improved transparency across the organization and into business lines is required. Additionally, new regulations will drive new business models and demand greater visibility into how an organization achieves compliance. At the same time, the ubiquitous need for cost reduction is driving process automation and use of fewer, but more strategic, vendor partners, for greater operational efficiency. Leveraging global value chains (business process networks) will increase in importance as financial markets and global trade grow again.
