Paul Compton is head of product management in SunGard's alternative investment business, which provides solutions for hedge funds, funds-of-funds, private equity funds and investors, family offices and fund administrators. Mr. Compton joined SunGard in 2002 with the acquisition of Monis, where he held a number of roles, including head of training.
Paul Compton is responsible for the product direction and strategy of SunGard’s alternative investment solutions. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has led courses around the world on the fundamentals of convertible securities, convertible bond modelling and the latest market structures and trends. With more than 20 years of experience, Mr. Compton is an excellent resource on industry trends and financial software in the alternative investments space.
Commentary
The growth of the alternative investment industry shows no signs of stopping as traditional and alternative investments converge. The industry is experiencing an increase in investments from pensions and institutional money (“sticky money”), which, unlike high net worth individuals, have boards and consultants. Firmer reporting requirements mean these oversight groups or individuals are looking increasingly closely at the processes, procedures and systems that funds are using.
Moreover, with increased competition and the quest for alpha, funds need a competitive edge. Their platforms need to support the analysis, trading, portfolio management, risk management, valuation and reporting of both OTC and exchange-traded derivatives and securities in real-time.
