Stephen Schwartz is senior vice president of product management across SunGard’s energy solutions business. An expert in gas and power trading operations and the systems that support them, he applies this expertise to help companies effectively integrate technologies in order to enhance the productivity of traders, nominating and scheduling personnel.
Prior to joining SunGard in 2007, Mr. Schwarz was an IT executive responsible for trading and integration systems for the North America gas and power trading arm of BP. Prior to BP, he held operational and project management positions at Enron Capital and Trade and at Transco.
Commentary
Energy trading is undergoing significant change as markets become increasingly interdependent, shorten scheduling time blocks, introduce more exchange traded derivatives and futures, and experience greater pressure for transparency around transactions, pricing and terms. Through these changes, energy market participants must make real-time decisions, aggregate information about positions and risk across the enterprise, and realize the productivity and integrity from straight through processing. Technology, ease of integration and configurability are part of the answer.
