SunGard Announces Formation Of Public Sector Group

SunGard (www.sungard.com) today announced it has formed a new Public Sector group that includes SunGard Bi-Tech, SunGard HTE, SunGard Pentamation, and SunGard Vivista. The group has been formed to help improve collaboration among the four public sector business units to better address the needs of the public sector, including local and regional government, K-12 school districts and public safety agencies. The four business units that make up SunGard Public Sector will continue to operate as stand-alone businesses. The closer alignment of the public sector business units will help customers benefit from tighter integration of products and services and joint solutions that leverage a wide array of technology and service competencies to address evolving e-government, information sharing, mobility, and public safety needs.

Gil Santos has been named chief operating officer of SunGard Public Sector. Mr. Santos joined SunGard HTE in 1998 and served in various capacities in operations management prior to being named president in 2003. Prior to joining HTE, he was director of operations for the Land Mobile Products Sector of Motorola, Inc.

Bringing them together under Gil's leadership will help SunGard to deliver more targeted and competitive solutions to our customers faster," said Bob Clarke, group chief executive officer of SunGard Higher Education and Public Sector Systems.

Tom Huber, currently president of SunGard Higher Education, Managed Services (formerly SunGard Collegis) will succeed Mr. Santos as president of SunGard HTE effective September 5th. From 2001 until SunGard Collegis became part of SunGard Higher Education in 2005, Mr. Huber served as president of SunGard Collegis. Prior to joining Collegis, Mr. Huber was president of the CBS Worldwide Division of Fiserv Inc. where he was responsible for domestic and global operations of all business units operating in more than 50 countries.

SunGard Vivista, SunGard Pentamation, and SunGard Bi-Tech will continue to operate under their current leadership. SunGard Public Sector business units collectively serve 900 cities and counties, 600 K-12 organizations, and over 700 public safety agencies throughout North America and the U.K.
