SunGard Expands SEI CMMI® Maturity Level 2 Rating Achievement to Additional Brokerage and Clearance Solution

August 25, 2009 — Chicago, IL

SunGard’s brokerage and clearance business has achieved the Maturity Level 2 Rating of SEI’s CMMI for Development, Version 1.2 (Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration) for its GMI clearing and accounting solution for exchange traded derivatives, futures and options.  An integrated, enterprise quality model used to enhance an organization’s ability to manage project activities toward success, the CMMI appraisal rating recognizes SunGard as a quality provider of systems engineering, software development and IT services.

Mukul Madan, founding partner at QAI India Limited, said, “I wish to congratulate SunGard on achieving the Maturity Level 2 rating for the GMI solution.  The benefits of SunGard’s investment in process improvement are evident in the discipline it has established for its project management practices, as well as insights that have been gained from projects.  With a senior management-level focus on improved understanding and experience sharing, I expect SunGard will cross more milestones in the future.”

Achievement of CMMI Maturity Level 2 culminates in the successful evaluation of an organization’s ability to administer requirements management, project planning, project monitoring and control, measurements and analysis, process and product quality assurance, and configuration management.  SunGard’s GMI project team also worked with SunGard’s Center of Excellence to help accelerate the project’s timeline and leverage existing material from the achievement of the CMMI Maturity Level 2 Rating for SunGard’s Phase3 securities processing solution and Stream data aggregation and event-driven applications in 2006.

Gerry Murphy, president of SunGard’s brokerage and clearance business, said, “SunGard is committed to the highest software quality, customer satisfaction and timely delivery.  By achieving this rating, SunGard has a shared vision across several product lines to deliver greater value to customers in a more timely and productive fashion.”

SEI is a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and operated by Carnegie Mellon University.  Originally commissioned by the DoD to help them qualify software vendors’ capabilities, CMMI is used by organizations worldwide to help them achieve product and process improvements.
