SunGard Named a Leading Provider in Celent’s Insurance Software Deal Trends Report
July 20, 2009 — Atlanta, GA
Research and advisory firm Celent, LLC has named SunGard a leading provider of Infrastructure and Accounting solutions in the latest Life/Health and Property/Casualty edition of its Insurance Software Deal Trends report. The ranking is based on the number of deals SunGard signed in 2007 and 2008. In addition, SunGard was ranked third in Celent’s Traction Index, which represents a weighted score, based on the number of deals and the four categories in which the deals are found.
The report analyzes a total of 1,315 software deals submitted by 36 vendors, signed between January 1, 2007, and December 31, 2008. Approximately 37% of the deals were life/annuity/health carriers with the remaining deals relating to property and casualty. The Celent report analyzes submitted deals in 39 categories, which are grouped into four meta categories: core processing, distribution, document/content management and infrastructure and accounting. SunGard led the infrastructure and accounting meta category with 55% of the Life/Health deals and 40% of the Property/Casualty deals.
“We would like to extend our congratulations to SunGard for being named as a leading vendor,” said Craig Weber, senior vice president of Celent’s insurance practice. “We believe that carriers value partners who know the insurance vertical well, and who demonstrate their commitment to it. SunGard’s success in insurance puts it in that category.”
Greg Webber, president of SunGard’s insurance business, said, “We are very pleased to have been ranked so highly by Celent and view it as a reflection of the strength of our iWorks solutions in the Life and Health and Property and Casualty industries.”
