SunGard Availability Services Completes Enhancements to Workforce Continuity Services
January 29, 2009 — Wayne, PA
SunGard Availability Services has completed the deployment of new desktop technology throughout each of its North American workforce continuity services centers. The deployment, completed in late 2008, reinforces SunGard’s commitment to staying ahead of the performance and computing needs of its customers in today’s business environment.
More than 5,900 new Hewlett-Packard PCs were deployed across 29 SunGard workforce continuity services facilities and 41 mobile recovery units in North America – the company’s largest upgrade to date. The new capabilities provide increased processor speeds and memory as well as the ability to support the wide array of software applications utilized by customers in their businesses.
By deploying a consistent configuration for desktop PC architecture across all workforce continuity services facilities, customers can give their employees a common platform to utilize during an event or outage – even when supporting geographically dispersed business users from multiple SunGard locations. Additionally, SunGard offers a drive imaging service to simplify and reduce desktop PC recovery times, helping customers to quickly restore large numbers of desktop PCs for their users.
The enhancements also included a complete refresh of the Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) and Voicemail systems, resulting in a uniform software version deployed across all SunGard locations. This consistent approach provides organizations with a faster and more efficient means of recovering call center capabilities.
SunGard’s workforce continuity services facilities are available to organizations in need of alternative workspace, telecommunications capabilities and IT resources to recover their workforce and business processes when a disaster occurs. The enhancements impact SunGard’s full range of mobile and shared workforce continuity services.
"SunGard’s deployment of new desktop PC technology throughout our North American workforce continuity services facilities demonstrates continued commitment to providing the latest technology that addresses the performance and computing needs of today’s businesses," said Kim Stratsky, director, product management, SunGard Availability Services. "By leveraging our facilities and global network backbone, organizations have access to a single source for equipment, services and support needed to help ensure their IT and network resources are recoverable. Customers can now have the resources, workspace and equipment needed to remain productive and connected to critical business information and applications when the unexpected occurs."
