Theoria Capital Management Implements SunGard's Front Arena for Trading and Risk Management of Multi-Strategy Hedge Fund

August 17, 2010 — Singapore

Theoria Capital Management (Theoria Capital), a Singapore-based fund management company, has implemented SunGard’s Front Arena to support trading and risk management across its multi-strategy hedge fund operations.  A multi-asset solution providing trade capture, real-time P&L and desk-level risk, Front Arena helps hedge funds, traditional asset managers and other alternative investment managers to identify risk and exposure.

Theoria Capital went live with Front Arena in less than two months. Focused primarily on Japanese investments, Theoria Capital uses Front Arena to help effectively manage,, measure and monitor risk across multiple investment strategies, including arbitrage, directional, market-neutral and event-driven investing. Front Arena’s cross-asset coverage and real-time P&L capabilities help Theoria Capital to manage pricing, exposure and positions in real-time so that trades can be quickly modeled and executed from Theoria Capital’s execution management system (EMS). Currently Theoria Capital employs Front Arena for its equities, futures and options businesses.

Theoria Capital also uses SunGard’s APT, a leading solution for risk-based investment management decisions. Positions from Front Arena can be fed into APT to further track risk, calculate risk attribution and optimize portfolios.

Minoru Umezaki, president of Theoria Capital Management, said, “With aggressive growth targets over the next few years, and planned expansion into new markets and asset classes, we needed a comprehensive platform that would adapt to meet our needs now and in the future.  SunGard’s Front Arena covers the broad range of instruments we need, while also giving us accurate, real-time access to exposure, valuations and P&L.”

Emanuel Mond, president of SunGard’s alternative investments business, said, “In an environment where global borders are being broken down and investment strategies are increasingly complex, having a solution in place that can manage a broad range of asset classes and investment strategies is important. Front Arena will assist Theoria Capital Management as they strive for growth in new regions, with comprehensive coverage, pricing and analysis to help efficiently mitigate risks and capitalize on potential investment opportunities.”
