SunGard has supported the initiation of a new Operational Control Room in Manchester which was used to provide enhanced security for the Labour Party Conference.

In September 2008 the city of Manchester hosted the annual Labour Party Conference – requiring replication of London security levels by GMP - a major challenge as all UK Government departmental heads were based in Manchester for the period of the conference.

In the build up to the conference SunGard worked in close cooperation with GMP to design, build and fit the Integrated Communications Control System (ICCS) elements of the new Operational Control Room (OCR), known locally as the Command Module.

GMP believes that this new facility is amongst the most advanced of its kind in Europe.

GMP’s investment in the Command Module will be returned many times over and benefit the public safety community as a whole as the system will now be used to support all major events that take place in and around Manchester.
